Our social responsibilities
There's more to a workplace than a place to work. We strive to create a company our employees are proud to be a part of, where work is rewarding and everyone can thrive.

A welcoming workplace
Committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive, because it takes all hands to devise innovative solutions.
A diverse workforce strengthens our business. Our leadership is dedicated to ensuring equal opportunities for all, providing training and continuously improving our approach to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI).
We actively promote EDI through fair recruitment practices, implementing inclusive policies, and employee engagement activities. By embracing diverse perspectives, we can all create a positive working environment where everyone is valued and respected.

Supporting the Armed Forces Community
We are honoured to have received the Gold Award status from the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme in 2024, almost ten years since MD George Howe initially signed the Armed Forces Covenant.
We work alongside Careers Transition Partnership to recruit service leavers and reach out to servicemembers looking to transition to a civilian career. Our work experience programme is ideal for the latter—find out more here. We also support employees who serve as Reservists, providing additional paid leave to accommodate their training.
Our support goes beyond veterans and their families; it extends to the whole community. We actively support Armed Forces charities and events, including running and participating in fundraisers for the Royal British Legion, SSAFA, Help for Heroes and RMRNC.

Helping shape the future of engineering
The UK is facing a significant shortage of engineers, with a projected shortfall of up to 1.5 million engineers by 2030. We are doing our part to address this growing crisis.
Our STEM Ambassadors actively engage in various STEM outreach activities throughout the year, ranging from speaking at career talks and fairs to providing mentorships on projects. Students learn what it means to work as an engineer in the defence industry, and in return, our employees gain a rewarding experience helping spark inspiration for future engineers.
Taking steps to address future industry needs whilst making it a rewarding experience for our employees.

A workforce ready for tomorrow
Continuous learning is part of our culture. By investing in the development of our people, we are taking steps to ensure that our workforce is fit to take on future challenges.
We offer a wide range of training opportunities, from technical skills and compliance to leadership development. Employees are supported through regular assessments against a skills matrix, helping to identify development needs and shape personal growth plans. By embedding learning into our culture and aligning it with business goals, we empower individuals, build capability, and drive long-term success.
We also offer apprenticeships and graduate programmes for budding engineers, equipping them with all the skills and knowledge required to build a solid foundation to thrive in their future career.
We invest in developing and upskilling our people, ensuring that our workforce is fit to take on future challenges.

- The Great Portland Bake-Off for Macmillan Cancer Support
- Annual Christmas Raffle in support of Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity
- The Chertsey Bake Sale in support of Unseen, a modern slavery charity
- Poppy Ride in support of the Royal British Legion
