Signature Management System
Organically monitors the radiated acoustic emissions of warships and submarines, aiding the localisation of noise sources.
Installed across the Royal Navy Fleet, this standalone system comprises transducer arrays, data acquisition and data distribution sub-systems and PC-based operator workstations. Alternatively, we can offer the transducers with network-based telemetry and embed the software application within existing sonar or combat system. The transducers comprise arrays of hull internally mounted accelerometers and external hydrophones, which can be populated throughout the platform or localised in particular compartments to provide real-time radiated noise estimates and to aid the localisation of noise sources. The software provides a modular acoustic analysis toolkit and an equipment database which allows the operators to customise the system to suit the platform configuration.
Current Developments
Rugged, high density, high dynamic range, low noise, low power data acquisition units, configurable for multiple sensor types, combined with dual redundant high speed network distribution of sensor and health data are about to go into service.

Sonar Systems & Signal Processing
Active Intercept sonar
High-performance wideband processors that can be provided as complete hardware and/or software solutions using single arrays or multi-site architectures covering low to very high frequencies. We offer fully digital solutions, allowing easy integration within an integrated sonar suite by a third party.
Sonar Design & Integration
Developing, installing and testing components and algorithms across different sonar types and platforms. This includes upgrades and novel processing for submarine conformal arrays, development of inboard hardware to interface to legacy arrays, novel processing and error analysis for towed arrays, performance assessments of hull arrays, and solutions for unmanned vessels.
Research, Development & Trials
Highly capable sonar modelling and simulation capability, ideal for supporting algorithm development and system performance modelling using simulated or recorded data.
30+ years of experience offering active intercept sonar systems, research, development, trials, design and integration services.

Positioning & Precise Timing Systems
Complementary technologies for high-resilience position, frequency and timing systems for maritime platforms.
Navfix
Our naval GPS and distribution solution provides accurate location and timing through Standard Positioning Service (SPS) and encrypted Precise Positioning Service (PPS) to support robust navigational warfare capabilities. Navfix is currently in service on most Royal Navy submarines and surface ships (minesweeper and above).
Precise Time & Frequency Equipment (PTFE)
In the temporary absence of GPS satellite-received time, the PTFE will maintain precise time to an accuracy of less than 50µsec after 90 days (Caesium) or less than 250µsec after 45 days (Rubidium). Our Rubidium-based PTFE is currently in service with the Royal Navy as Outfit FSF and is fitted to some twenty-five operational ships, including Type 45 Destroyers. Our integrated Military GPS and PTFS (MGP) Systems including Navfix and a new variant of PTFE are being fitted to Type 26 and Type 31 platforms.
Robust, accurate and reliable systems to provide the primary location and timing information for navigation, communications and combat systems.
